It’s time for more

After purchasing my first small items and gaining some experience with them, it’s time for my first larger purchase. Specifically, I want to buy a latex catsuit. I know most people recommend starting with something like pants, but I’m really sure that I’ll enjoy a catsuit, and that’s my goal either way.

Now, two questions arise: First, which shop should I buy from, and second, what kind of catsuit do I want?

Choosing a shop

After a bit of research, I came across several larger shops. Stores like Libidex or Bright&Shiny are definitely too expensive for my first catsuit, so I looked more at the cheaper options. I focused on Latex Catfish, GlanZig, and Kink Projects. Of these three, Latex Catfish was the most well-known, followed by Kink Projects. So, GlanZig was out for me. Kink Projects is a bit cheaper than Latex Catfish, with—based on my research—comparable quality, so I decided to go with that shop.

Customization options

Zippers

Catsuits come with or without zippers. Going without a zipper seemed too risky for a first try since you’d have to stretch the collar to get into the suit. Then, there are front, back, and shoulder zippers, with the front and back also available in full-length or split versions. After some consideration, I opted for a split back zipper. I chose the split design because a zipper isn’t stretchy, and with a split back zipper, there’s an area of latex on the back without a zipper, which is supposed to be more comfortable when bending and moving. A back zipper also has the advantage of giving the front a much cleaner look. While a front zipper is said to be easier to put on, I’m flexible enough to close a back zipper by myself.

Color

Then there’s the matter of color. Black feels too intense for me, and bright colors are too bold. That leaves shades of gray and darker colors. I decided to go with a dark gray, as I plan to wear the catsuit under clothing, and this option seemed the most discreet to me.

Chlorination

Latex can be chlorinated, which alters its surface. With this treatment, you supposedly don’t need dressing aid anymore, and you don’t have to polish the suit with silicone oil. The downside, however, is that it’s more expensive, and it also makes repairs more difficult. Glue doesn’t stick to the chlorinated surface, so it has to be sanded down with sandpaper or something similar before repairs can be made. Despite this, repairs are still possible. To keep the cost as low as possible, I decided against chlorination for now.

Attached gloves and socks are also not an option for me due to their susceptibility to holes and other damage.

Sizing

That leaves the size. Since none of the standard sizes come close enough to my measurements, I decided to go with made-to-measure (m2m). My wife has agreed to help me with the measuring to ensure the measurements are as accurate as possible. Only a custom fit allows latex to fit perfectly, and with this material, that makes a significant difference.

Finalizing it all

Before placing my order, I contacted the customer service at Kink Projects to clarify a few questions. Their responses generally came within a day, and while the staff were helpful, there was a noticeable language barrier. It’s definitely a good idea to write in simple English and, if necessary, follow up to avoid any misunderstandings.

So… I’ve placed the order and spent quite a bit of money on a catsuit. Based on what I’ve read online, I can expect a wait time of 3-4 months, maybe even longer. I’m really excited to see how it turns out!
